JMC officials said the vehicle will operate for four to five hours daily in areas with high pollution levels and heat. Developed by The Designo International in collaboration with IIT Kharagpur, it uses fine mist technology that releases ultra-fine water droplets into the air. The droplets bind with suspended dust particles, helping reduce air pollution while also lowering the ambient temperature and controlling foul odours. The vehicle was provided by Genus Power Infrastructure Ltd under its CSR programme. The company will bear the cost of the driver, maintenance and operation of the air purification system, while JMC will provide only the fuel. Valued at around Rs 7 lakh, the vehicle will be deployed across the city on a one-month trial basis.
