30 UP PPS officers cleared for promotion to IPS

Lucknow: Thirty officers of the Uttar Pradesh Provincial Police Service (PPS) have been cleared for promotion to the Indian Police Service (IPS) following the approval of the departmental promotion committee (DPC), officials said on Thursday.The decision was taken during a meeting of the DPC held at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) headquarters in New Delhi. The committee approved the promotion of eligible officers belonging to the 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000 batches of the Provincial Police Service.The officers cleared for promotion include Suresh Chandra Rawat, Shoaib Iqbal, Rahul Mithas, Alok Kumar Sharma, Vineet Bhatnagar, Jitendra Kumar Srivastava, Shashi Shekhar Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Balwant Kumar Chaudhary, Rahul Srivastava, Vikas Chandra Tripathi, Purnendu Singh, Harendra Kumar, Martand Prakash Singh and Abhay Nath Tripathi, among others.The promotions, subject to the completion of the remaining formalities, will induct the officers into the IPS cadre. They are expected to be assigned senior policing responsibilities across the state in accordance with cadre rules.The promotion of PPS officers to the IPS is carried out through a selection process conducted by the UPSC on the basis of vacancies, service records and recommendations of the state govt.
