Rajkot: After the death of 21-year-old Nandani Bosmiya, who was found hanged in an apartment in the city on Monday, her family said she was murdered and accused her live-in partner of being involved in it. Police have not registered a case of murder.According to police, Bosmiya’s body was discovered on Monday evening in a flat in Agaman Residency, near Gondal Chowkdi. Rajkot Taluka police registered an unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNSS and began an investigation.Bosmiya, who was from Navagadh in Jetpur taluka, was a medical representative and had been living in Rajkot. Her family said she was living with a man, a resident of Junagadh.Assistant commissioner of police (south) B J Chaudhari said: “She was in a live-in relationship with a man for the past year. She sent message to her younger sister before committing suicide, saying she was going to take the extreme step.”Her father, Anand Bosmiya, alleged the man, who is married, was living with Nandani and the two had frequent quarrels. Her family further alleged the man had assaulted Nandani on multiple occasions.According to her family, Nandani and her companion had a disagreement two days before her death, after which Nandani temporarily stayed elsewhere before returning to the apartment.The younger sister of the deceased, Rupal, said, “The man has a child and his mother and sister were telling him to meet his wife in Junagadh. He continued visiting his wife despite his relationship with Nandani, which was a recurring source of conflict.”The authorities stated that further action will depend on the postmortem findings, forensic evidence and the outcome of the investigation.Bosmiya was known locally for her political activism. In 2025, she contested the Jetpur-Navagadh municipal election as a candidate of the Aam Aadmi Party.
