Jaipur: City police Thursday arrested four persons and detained a juvenile in connection with the murder of a 28-year-old man who was allegedly beaten to death after objecting to a group of youths consuming liquor outside his family’s grocery shop in the Sanganer Sadar area earlier this week.Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Rajarshi Raj Varma said police formed a special team immediately after the incident and, acting on technical surveillance and intelligence inputs, arrested Sagar Bairwa (27), Aman Bairwa (21), Vikas Bairwa (26) and Ramswaroop Bairwa (48). A juvenile was also detained.Police said the incident took place around 10 pm on June 23 in Shiksha Sagar Colony, Govindpura, when the deceased, Sanju Sharma (28), and his brother objected to a group of youths consuming liquor outside their family’s grocery shop. The group allegedly began pelting stones at the shop before attacking the brothers and others who intervened with iron pipes, metal rods and sharp-edged weapons.According to police, Sanju suffered severe head injuries after being repeatedly assaulted. He was rushed to RUHS Hospital and later referred to SMS Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment early on June 24.Police said Sanju’s brother, Abhishek, sustained injuries but survived the attack. Three others who intervened were also injured.Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, police registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including murder.Police said the accused fled after a PCR vehicle reached the spot but were identified through technical surveillance, CCTV footage and other evidence. They are being interrogated to ascertain whether any other accomplices were involved in the crime. Further investigation is underway.
