Gandhinagar: An Indian rock python about 7 feet long was rescued from Rupgadh village in Dholka taluka of Ahmedabad district on Wednesday. The snake was spotted by villagers who informed the rescuers.Villagers called up animal rescuer, Sanket Mistry, after spotting that snake in the farms surrounding the village. “With the guidance of range forest officer A A Bhaliya and forester D B Chavda, our rescuers reached the spot and rescued the python. We released it in its natural habitat away from the village,” he said.Mistry said the python is a calm and non-venomous snake that plays an important role in maintaining ecological balance. The rescue team comprised Anuj Sathwara, Jitu Meraiya, Sultan Kothariya, Gopal Dabhi, and Vimal Kadiya.Wildlife experts noted that monsoons often push reptiles out of flooded burrows into human settlements in search of dry shelter and food sources like rodents. The forest department has urged citizens to report snake sightings immediately instead of taking matters into their own hands.
