2 brothers land police jobs via ESM quota meant for 1, booked

Jind: Police have registered an FIR against two brothers, both serving as head constables in Haryana police, for allegedly securing jobs under the same Ex-Servicemen (ESM) quota by claiming benefits meant for a single dependent of their retired Army father. The case was registered at Julana police station against Dalel and Bhupender, residents of Gatauli village in Jind district. Dalel was recruited in 2008 and Bhupender in 2014. Both allegedly availed the ESM quota on the basis of their father’s service in the Army. The FIR was registered following a complaint by Kamla Dahia (70), a retired health supervisor from Sonipat, who alleged that while one of her relatives was denied the benefit of the ESM quota, both brothers from the same family had secured jobs under it.Police said a preliminary inquiry found that only one dependent of a retired serviceman is eligible to claim the benefit of the ESM quota. The inquiry indicated that both brothers had allegedly availed the reservation, prompting the registration of the FIR.Jind superintendent of police Kuldeep Singh confirmed that a case had been registered and said the allegations would be verified during the investigation. Appropriate legal action would be taken based on the findings, he added.
