Hyderabad: Telangana chief electoral officer C Sudharshan Reddy has issued a stern warning to voters, cautioning that furnishing false information in enumeration forms or submitting forms at two different places is a punishable offence under law.The violation can attract imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both, he said. While filling the enumeration form, electors must provide details from the 2002 Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral rolls. Those whose names are missing can furnish the details of relatives listed in it.Reddy said voters can check the 2002 SIR data through the ECINET app, which will be available to the public from Thursday. Booth-level officers (BLOs) will also assist voters in filling forms and verifying roll details.Electors must sign a declaration affirming that neither they nor their family members have acquired citizenship of another country, and that they are not enrolled in any other assembly or parliamentary constituency. The enumeration form clearly states that furnishing a false declaration is punishable under section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. “Filling enumeration forms at two places is also an offence. A voter whose name is registered at two locations must fill the form only at the place where he or she resides,” Reddy said. Each voter will be given two copies of the form. Both must be filled in. One copy, acknowledged by the BLO, should be retained by the voter, while the other must be handed back to the BLO.By tightening procedures and stressing accountability, the Election Commission aims to ensure accuracy in the rolls and prevent fraudulent enrolments, officials said.
