Pocso cases in Nagaland rose from 7 in 2022 to 15 in 2025: Dimapur CP

Dimapur: Dimapur commissioner of police Aotula T Imchen on Wednesday said reported Pocso cases in Nagaland increased from seven in 2022 to 15 in 2025, while the number of traced missing children reached 216 in 2025.Addressing the monthly Dimapur District Planning and Development Board meeting at the DC’s conference hall, Imchen said many missing-child cases were linked to runaway incidents or elopement. She urged stakeholders to identify early warning signs such as absenteeism, school dropouts, and behavioral changes to prevent children from becoming vulnerable.Highlighting the activities undertaken by the police on preventive awareness and coordinated action for the safety of girls and children in the district, the police officer called for stronger collaboration among a unified child protection system linking police, childline, welfare agencies, schools, health institutions, and community leaders.Imchen said clear roles, timely referrals, regular coordination, and effective information-sharing were essential to ensure that no child is left without support. She said building a culture of prevention, accountability, confidentiality, and collective responsibility was the key to safeguard children and secure their rights, dignity, and well-being.The meeting also discussed issues relating to traffic congestion in Dimapur.
