Hyderabad: A 27-year-old student from Visakhapatnam was booked after airport security personnel detected two live rounds in his baggage during screening at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad on Sunday night.According to police, the accused, identified as Madhu Babu, was scheduled to travel on an IndiGo flight from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnam when the ammunition was discovered during pre-boarding security checks.“Two live rounds were detected during security screening. The passenger claimed he was unaware that carrying them was illegal. As he failed to produce any valid documents authorising possession of the ammunition, a case was registered against him,” said RGIA (outpost) SI K Harika.According to the police, Madhu Babu, a native of Visakhapatnam, had been staying in Hyderabad for studies. Preliminary inquiries revealed no previous criminal record.Police said the ammunition was seized, and a case was registered under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act. “After the case was registered, he was released as per procedure,” Harika added.Further investigation is underway.
