Dibrugarh: Three National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) cadres voluntarily surrendered before the Changlang district police in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday.The surrendered individuals include two members from the National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Reformation (NSCN-R) and one from the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM). They have been identified as self-styled second lieutenant of NSCN-Reformation Jongham Saijong (43), a resident of Old Jukhi village, Lomjan Pangtha (51) of Jongji Havi village and self-styled lance corporal of NSCN-Reformation Khangjum Khanglim (22) of Old Salang village in Changlang district.According to police officials, the trio decided to lay down arms following sustained counselling efforts by the district police and the moral support extended by their respective family members.“With the support of their family members and our counselling efforts, they chose to renounce violence and return to the mainstream of society. This is a positive step and we hope it will inspire others still in the jungle to follow suit,” a senior police official said.
