Guwahati: A man and his son died after a tree collapsed on their moving scooter on Monday night in Kamrup district. This incident comes days after a student died in Guwahati after a tree fell on the scooter she was travelling on.The deceased have been identified as Karthik Rabha (40), and his 10-year-old son Bhrigu Rabha. They were residents of the Chalchera LP School area in Palashbari. According to the police, the accident happened in the Rajapara area, where both of them died on the spot.“According to the investigation, we found that the father-son duo was on their way to a relative’s house when they met with an accident on the Mirza-Chandubi road,” a traffic officer from Palashbari police station said.“Upon receiving information about the incident, a police team led by the officer in charge (OC) of Palashbari PS and the circle deputy superintendent of police (CDSP) rushed to the scene. The bodies were recovered and sent to the Mirza Community Health Centre (CHC) for an autopsy and other medico-legal procedures. The damaged scooter has been brought to Palashbari police station,” the officer added.Following the accident, officials and staff of the forest department immediately removed the fallen tree from the road. With assistance from the police, vehicular movement along the route was restored to normal.The heartbreaking incident has cast a pall of gloom across the Palashbari region, with residents expressing grief over the loss of the father and son in such a tragic manner.
