Gurgaon records a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius
Gurgaon: A drop in temperatures brought some relief to the city on Monday, even as India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of up to 60 kmph till June 26.Gurgaon recorded a maximum temperature of 36.6 degrees Celsius at the Gurgaon AWS station on Monday, down from 37.3 degrees Celsius a day earlier, a fall of 0.7 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature at the station was 24 degrees Celsius, compared to 27.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday, registering a sharp decline of 3.5 degrees Celsius.At the Gurgaon KVK station, the maximum temperature was 36.1 degrees Celsius, up from 35.1 degrees Celsius on Sunday, while no minimum temperature was recorded at the station.Similarly, NorthCap University station recorded a maximum temperature of 38.1 degrees Celsius, against 38 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The minimum temperature was 26.1 degrees Celsius, down from 26.4 degrees Celsius the previous day.Across Haryana, the average maximum temperature fell by 2.4 degrees Celsius compared to Sunday and remained 2.4 degrees Celsius below normal. The state’s highest maximum temperature was recorded at 39.1 degrees Celsius in Rohtak.Despite the drop in minimum temperatures, weather conditions remained uncomfortable due to high humidity levels and intermittent sunshine. Residents continued to experience hot conditions during the afternoon hours, although temperatures stayed below the seasonal average.IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall at isolated places across Haryana till June 26. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are likely at isolated locations during this period.“There will be no major change expected in maximum temperatures over the next five days, with cloud cover and intermittent rain activity likely to prevent any significant rise in mercury levels. However, humid conditions are expected to persist,” IMD said.
