Aspirants denied entry at exam centre, one was 2 mins late

New Delhi: A delay of two minutes caused Varsha Kumari to miss her NEET UG re-examination on Sunday. She reached the examination centre on Pandara Road late after going to another centre in Dwarka by mistake.Though she repeatedly requested the security officers stationed outside, banged on the gates and cried for help through a gap in the gate, she was denied entry. Like her, at least two other students also missed the examination on Sunday. The reporting time was until 1.30 pm, and announcements were made at the centre that no aspirant would be allowed entry after the deadline. The examination was scheduled to begin at 2 pm.Varsha reached the main gate at 1.32 pm. Security personnel stationed outside the centre also requested the examination authorities to allow her in as the test had not begun, but the request was not considered.“When I booked a cab to the examination centre, I mistakenly went to another centre in Dwarka. Despite my repeated requests, I was not allowed in because the gate had already been closed,” Varsha said with tears in her eyes.Another NEET aspirant, who reached the centre about 15 minutes late, said: “It was my mistake.”
