RTO clerical staff across Maharashtra intensify stir on seventh day, two-hour sit-in protest on June 22

Mumbai: The indefinite strike by RTO employees entered its seventh day on Sunday, with no resolution in sight as the govt and administration remain unresponsive to the union’s pending demands. In a bid to escalate pressure, employees across Maharashtra will stage a two-hour sit-in protest in all RTO offices on Monday morning. The RTO Employees’ Union, which launched the strike on June 16, has accused the administration of attempting to create confusion among staff and exert pressure through “misleading tactics” instead of initiating meaningful dialogue. As part of the next phase, employees will continue the indefinite strike on June 22 and 23, alongside coordinated sit-in demonstrations at offices. Union general secretary Surendra Sartape warned that if the govt fails to respond, an indefinite relay hunger strike will be launched outside RTO offices across the state from June 24.
