Panaji: Goa saw a deficit of 83% in pre-monsoon rainfall, as it received only 1.3mm of rainfall, compared to the mean value of 7.8mm on Monday.Panaji recorded its warmest night of the summer season so far, with the minimum temperature settling at 27C on Monday. According to meteorologist and retired chief scientist from the National Institute of Oceanography, M R Ramesh Kumar, the trend is not limited to daytime heat alone. “The minimum temperatures have been rising in the pre-monsoon season, which shows that both maximum and minimum temperatures are showing an increasing trend with the onset of summer in the state, ” he stated.The India Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for April 23.
