Hyderabad: A 43-year-old migrant worker died in a suspected chemical explosion at a site decoration and events-related godown in Meerpet on Sunday evening. Police identified the deceased as Anoop Pradhan (43), a labourer employed at the facility.According to police, the incident occurred around 4.45 pm in Sai Nagar under the limits of Meerpet police station. Preliminary investigations suggest that an organic chemical solvent may have been involved in the explosion, although the exact cause is yet to be ascertained and will be confirmed only after expert examination.Police said Pradhan, who hailed from West Bengal, had arrived in Hyderabad on Thursday. They confirmed that no other person was injured in the incident and no major property damage was reported.Meerpet police have registered a negligence case against the owner and are investigating the circumstances leading to the death. “We suspect the involvement of an organic chemical, but the exact cause will be confirmed only after the expert report is received,” said Sarang Pani, sub-inspector of Meerpet police station.According to police, body parts of the deceased were found a few metres from the blast site, indicating the force of the explosion. Forensic teams also rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. The area was cordoned off while experts conducted a detailed examination to determine the cause of the explosion.
