Gurgaon: A 35-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a speeding container truck allegedly hit his bike from behind and ran over him near Bilaspur Chowk on Friday afternoon. The driver fled the spot, abandoning the vehicle.The deceased was identified as Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Nandrampur Bass village in Dharuhera, Rewari.According to a complaint lodged by his brother-in-law, Sonu Yadav, the accident took place around 12.30 pm near the old toll point on the Dharuhera side of Bilaspur Chowk. Sonu and his elder sister, Monika, who is married to Sandeep, were travelling on a separate motorcycle after visiting relatives in Bhora Kalan village. Sandeep was riding ahead of them.As they approached the old toll point, a container truck came from behind at high speed and struck Sandeep’s motorcycle. The impact threw him onto the road, and the truck allegedly ran over his head, causing fatal injuries.Family members who witnessed the crash arranged an ambulance and rushed him to govt hospital, Sector 10, where doctors declared him dead.Police said the truck driver fled immediately after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind. Following information about the incident, a police team reached the hospital and recorded the statement of the complainant.A case has been registered at Bilaspur police station under Sections 281 (rash driving on a public way) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the BNS.Police have seized the truck and launched efforts to identify and arrest the absconding driver.
