Gurgaon: More than 6,800 candidates appearing for the NEET-UG 2026 retest on Sunday will take the exam amid elaborate security arrangements, including dedicated police riders at every centre, emergency response vehicles on standby and a special traffic plan to ensure smooth entry and prevent disruption.In Faridabad too, where 19 centres have been set up, over 500 police personnel and intelligence units have been deployed to crack down on cheating, impersonation and exam fraud, with the retest under intense scrutiny after the nationwide outrage over the NEET paper leak.In Gurgaon, where 6,804 candidates are scheduled to appear, 18 centres have been set up across the district. Some 380 personnel will be deployed, splitting the force between security and traffic duties to prevent disruption both inside and outside centres.Of them, 200 personnel will remain stationed at exam venues to maintain law and order, while 180 traffic personnel will regulate movement around the centres and key roads. Officials said a dedicated traffic plan has been put in place to minimise delays and congestion.Traffic teams will stay posted around all centres for the duration of the exam. In a significant addition, each centre will have a dedicated police rider tasked with continuous patrolling and immediate intervention in case of any emergency.“A police rider has been assigned to every centre for constant patrolling and quick response. Our force is fully committed to ensuring the examination is conducted peacefully and safely,” Gurgaon police spokesperson Sandeep Turan said.Emergency response vehicles (ERVs) have also been stationed at major junctions across the city to assist candidates and their families if required.Police have urged students and parents to leave early and follow traffic advisories, while appealing to the public to report any suspicious activity linked to the examination.Faridabad, too, has rolled out a multilayered security plan for its 19 centres, where over 500 police personnel will be deployed. DCP (NIT) Uttam has been appointed nodal officer for the exam.Candidates in Faridabad will be allowed entry only after a dual-layer frisking. At each centre, 10 police personnel — including three women officers — will be stationed, along with three traffic personnel.Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said the district’s intelligence network has been fully activated to detect copying, impersonation and organised exam fraud.Reserve police units have been kept on standby in Central, Ballabhgarh and NIT zones. As a preventive step, senior officers have also been ordered to inspect hotels and guest houses, verify IDs and check for suspicious movement — part of a wider crackdown on exam rackets.
