NOIDA: A head constable attached to Mathura Police Lines was killed and another policeman sustained injuries after a truck allegedly travelling on the wrong side rammed into a police escort vehicle accompanying the convoy of BJP MLA Rajesh Chaudhary on the Yamuna Expressway near Noida International Airport on Sunday.The accident took place under the Jewar police station limits when the escort Bolero collided head-on with a dumper truck, leaving both vehicles badly damaged.“After receiving information, a police team immediately reached the spot and the injured personnel were taken to a hospital,” officials said.Police said during treatment, doctors declared Head Constable Rajendra Singh Yadav dead, while another injured policeman, Head Constable Sultan Singh, sustained minor injuries.The truck was allegedly moving in the wrong direction on the expressway when it struck the escort vehicle, officials said.Police detained the truck driver, seized the dumper and lodged a case against the accused.Further investigation is underway.(With PTI inputs)
