tnnLucknow: More than 2.1 crore UP farmers received financial assistance worth Rs 4,352 crore on Saturday as PM Narendra Modi released the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme from West Bengal.CM Yogi Adityanath joined the programme virtually from Jhansi and expressed gratitude to PM Modi for the continued support of farmers.According to state govt, the latest installment forms part of a nationwide transfer of more than Rs 18,880 crore to over 94.4 million farmers across the country. Uttar Pradesh accounted for the largest share of beneficiaries.Yogi said the prosperity and well-being of farmers remain a top priority of the “double-engine govt.” He described the financial assistance as not merely an economic benefit but a symbol of govt’s commitment to the hard work, dignity and prosperity of the farming community.The PM-KISAN scheme provides eligible farmer families with annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000, paid in three equal installments of Rs 2,000 each through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).With the latest disbursement, farmers in UP have received a cumulative Rs 1.03 lakh crore under the scheme since its inception in 2019.
