Ahmedabad experiences cloudy weather, records 40°C

Ahmedabad: The city recorded a maximum temperature of 40°C on Saturday, which was 2.1 degrees above normal. At 29°C, the minimum temperature was 1.4 degrees above normal. At 8.30am, the relative humidity (RH) was at 61%, whereas at 5.30pm, it was 36%. According to the Met department forecast, the city may record maximum temperature of around 40°C on Sunday.The northern limit of the southwest monsoon remained at Harnai and Solapur in Maharashtra for nearly a week, according to the IMD bulletin, as conditions were termed favourable for its further advance from June 23 onwards.The Met department reported that a trough from north Telangana to the east-central Arabian Sea, extending across the cyclonic circulation over Gujarat and surrounding areas, persisted on Saturday. It added that a Western Disturbance continued over northern India.The forecast indicated that there will be no major change in maximum temperatures for the next seven days. Some areas of the region may experience light to moderate showers in the next few days, it added. Only three cities — Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Surendranagar — recorded 40°C. Overall, the region experienced partly cloudy weather.
