Telangana advocates demand greater representation in HC bench

Hyderabad: Intensifying its demand for greater representation of advocates from Telangana in appointments to the high court bench, the Telangana High Court Advocates’ Association met Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B Mahesh Kumar Goud and BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao on Saturday and submitted a representation along with a resolution adopted at its extraordinary general body meeting on June 15.According to the association, both leaders responded positively to the representation and assured their support for the issue.A delegation led by association president S Surender Reddy highlighted what it described as injustice to Telangana advocates in the appointment of high court judges and stressed the need to ensure adequate representation for advocates of Telangana origin in judicial appointments.The delegation, which included office-bearers and executive committee members, urged the political leaders to support the demand and take up the matter with the concerned authorities.The association also requested the leaders to impress upon the authorities the need to consider eligible advocates from Telangana for elevation to the bench, stating that such representation was important for the state’s legal fraternity.
