IIT-BHU jumps 56 places in global rankings

Varanasi: The Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, has improved its global standing by 56 places in the QS World University Rankings 2027. The institute has secured a rank of 510, a significant improvement from its earlier rank of 566 in the QS World University Rankings 2026.At the national level, IIT (BHU) strengthened its position among Indian institutions, moving from 14th position in QS 2026 to 12th in QS 2027. The institute’s overall score increased from 29.3 to 32.1, reflecting substantial progress across several key performance indicators.The institute recorded notable gains in several important ranking indicators in the QS World University Rankings 2027. The sustainability score increased from 48.3 to 58.4, while employer reputation rose significantly from 19.4 to 28.7. The academic reputation score also improved from 10.3 to 15.2. Additionally, the international research network score increased from 30.5 to 30.9, indicating continued expansion of international research collaborations.IIT-BHU director Prof. Amit Patra, expressed satisfaction over the institute’s performance and said that the achievement is a result of the efforts of the entire IIT-BHU fraternity, including faculty, students, staff, alumni and research community.Prof. Vikash Kumar Dubey, vice-chairman, institute ranking committee, highlighted the importance of the achievement and said that the improvement of 56 positions in a highly competitive global ranking framework is a strong indicator of the institute’s sustained progress.
