Chennai: A 16-year-old was killed after a container lorry hit the motorcycle she was travelling on near Tiruvottiyur on Wednesday night. The victim, Taslin Begam, of Thangal in Tiruvottiyur, was studying in Class XII at a private school. Police said she was riding pillion on a motorcycle with a friend, from Kaladipet towards Ennore Expressway.Police said a container lorry crashed into a barricade placed for underground drainage work and then hit the motorcycle near the Pattinathar Temple junction in Tiruvottiyur. Taslin Begam fell onto the road and was run over by the lorry. The lorry driver fled the scene. Her friend sustained minor injuries.The Washermenpet traffic investigation police have registered a case and launched a search for the container lorry driver.
