Mumbai: An FIR was registered against three members of a family for attacking a BMC team that was carrying out a drive against unauthorised hawkers in Goregaon East. The FIR was lodged on the basis of a complaint given by a licence inspector from the BMC.On June 17, the BMC carried out a drive against unauthorised hawkers in Goregaon East as per a pre-decided schedule. Around 10 am, the team learnt of an egg bhurji cart on the road near Santosh Nagar nullah and reached there in half an hour.After ascertaining that the cart was illegal, the civic team removed the cart from the location and loaded it, along with a gas cylinder, into its vehicle. The hawkers using the cart landed up and started attacking and verbally abusing the BMC team. One of them was hurt near his eye and dialled the police emergency number 100.The Dindoshi police reached the location and registered a case against the hawkers, Salman Shaikh, 33; his older brother, Irfan Shaikh, 38; and their mother, Razia Shaikh, 62, for pelting eggs at the BMC team and taking back their gas cylinder from the BMC vehicle.
