Dombivli youth who lost his mother during Covid secures AIR 3 in CA final

Dombivli: What should have been a moment of unbridled celebration for 23-year-old Sohan Anil Manjrekar after he secured All India Rank (AIR) 3 in the Chartered Accountancy (CA) final examination was also marked by a sense of longing. Amid the celebrations, Manjrekar and his family—father Anil and elder sister Shivani—could not help but remember Manjrekar’s mother, Shweta, who passed away during the pandemic after battling illness. The results were announced on Thursday, when the Dombivli resident scored an impressive 78.83% and emerged as one of the country’s top performers. Speaking to TOI, Manjrekar said, “I secured AIR 6 in the CA intermediate examination and was expecting to be in the top 10 again. Getting AIR 3 is beyond my expectations, and I am extremely happy.”Anil Manjrekar, who works as an accountant with a partnership firm in Matunga, said the achievement was the result of years of dedication and sacrifice. “There were many nights when Sohan studied till the early hours of the morning. Today, I am proud that my son has made a mark across the country,” he said. However, Anil admitted that the family’s happiness felt incomplete. “My wife passed away during Covid. If she were alive today, she would be the happiest person to see our son achieve this success. We miss her the most on this special day,” he said, becoming emotional. According to Manjrekar, discipline and consistency played a crucial role in his journey. “I studied for around eight to 10 hours every day and stayed focused on my goal,” he said, and credited his teachers for their constant guidance throughout the demanding course.
