Varanasi: In joint action, STF and Sidhari police arrested on Wednesday two undertrial prisoners who had fled of Azamgarh jail along with a third accomplice in 2016. To dodge police, they shifted to Punjab and worked as field labourers. Police announced cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on each of them.Azamgarh’s CO (city) Shubham Todi said Sidhari police arrested Chandrashekhar alias Shekhar (37) of Cholapur in Varanasi and Prakash Musahar (52) of Mardah in Ghazipur district. They were staying at Bakainiya (Maniya) under Gahmar police station area in Ghazipur. Todi said the arrested two had escaped from district jail of on Aug 18, 2016 and police were searching for them. Cash reward of Rs 1 lakh had been announced on their arrest.During interrogation, they confessed that after escaping from jail they hid at different places and worked as field labourers in Punjab for a long time. They had returned and were staying in Ghazipur for past few months.
