Ayodhya: Former Samajwadi Party MLA from Ayodhya and party spokesperson Tej Narain Pandey on Tuesday demanded a Supreme Court-supervised inquiry into alleged embezzlement of funds meant for the Ram temple. Pandey said the temple trust was constituted under the Supreme Court’s directions and therefore the apex court should monitor any probe into financial irregularities linked to it. He rejected the idea of an investigation by a Special Investigation Team formed by the Uttar Pradesh govt, calling it inappropriate for a matter involving what he termed public faith and religious donations. Pandey also questioned why no FIR has been registered so far despite allegations of large-scale misuse of “God’s wealth.” He demanded that the temple trust be dissolved immediately. He further said that, until the Supreme Court completes its investigation, all trust members facing allegations should be barred from entering the temple premises.
