Hyderabad: Elon Musk-owned Tesla opened its fifth experience centre in India in the heart of Hyderabad’s IT hub of HITEC City on Wednesday, marking an expansion of its retail and service footprint in India as it starts showcasing its 2026 Model Y rear-wheel drive and all-wheel-drive SUV Model Y L in Telangana.The company currently also has experience centres in Mumbai, Delhi, Gurgaon and Bengaluru, and service and body-shop coverage across Mumbai, Gurgaon, Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad. The company’s deliveries and after-sales operations will be supported from its facilities in the Bollaram area.Sharad Agarwal, Tesla’s India country head, said the company plans to set up approved body shops in Bengaluru, Chennai and Ahmedabad this quarter in addition to beefing up service and charging infrastructure.Tesla’s charging coverage currently spans Mumbai, Gurgaon and Delhi. It plans to expand this network in Delhi and Mumbai and set up new stations in Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.Tesla delivers cars across 28 states through its direct-to-consumer model covering design, manufacturing, retail, delivery, after-sales support and charging.The Model Y RWD, which has a range of up to 500 km, is priced at ₹50.89 lakh with deliveries expected in the state from July, while the six-seater Model Y L is priced upwards of ₹61.99 lakh with a range of up to 681 km.
