Lucknow: The basic education department has asked teachers to follow 10 key teaching-learning processes inside the classrooms to achieve targets of NIPUN Bharat Mission.In a fresh set of NIPUN guidelines, teachers have been asked to create a safe, inclusive, child-friendly environment that supports children’s social emotional well-being and encourages active participation in learning through a lot of activities.Additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education department, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, has asked teachers to regularly assign practice tasks to children, monitor their work and provide meaningful feedback.“When teachers provide timely feedback while understanding the difficulties children face in their learning, children realise what they have done correctly and where improvement is needed,” Sharma said.He also asked teachers to adopt diverse methods to gauge understanding, such as calling on specific children to answer questions, having them write the correct option on a slip of paper, using hand signals (thumbs up/thumbs down), asking them to express their thoughts or understanding, conducting activity-based assessments and regularly observing their work to provide targeted help and feedback.Special emphasis has been placed on promoting independent reading and writing practices, supported by functional libraries and reading corners in schools. Teachers have been asked to dedicate time for all children whether working in pairs, small groups or individually.To ensure better learning outcomes, teachers have been asked to design their lesson plans in a way that keeps children connected to the learning process for longer periods.
