Mohali: MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Malvinder Singh Kang, urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to curb drug trafficking into Punjab through routes originating from Gujarat, saying that the menace posed a serious threat to youth in the state.Addressing media persons during inauguration of development projects in Kharar constituency on Monday, Kang said recent drug seizures by Punjab Police suggest that international narcotics syndicates have altered their smuggling routes into Punjab. He called upon the Union govt to strengthen surveillance and enforcement mechanisms to prevent the inflow of drugs.Kang also criticised the BJP, saying that it lacked grassroots connect in Punjab. He said people supported the Aam Aadmi Party govt led by chief minister Bhagwant Mann due to its focus on transparency, governance and public welfare.Highlighting development works undertaken through the MPLAD Scheme, Kang inaugurated four water tankers costing Rs 3 lakh each for villages of Dusarna, Salempur Khurd, Mehrauli and Dhanaura. He also dedicated solar lighting projects worth Rs 1.9 lakh each in Baraudi and Bharatpur villages and inaugurated an indoor gymnasium built at a cost of Rs 3 lakh in Sialba village.
