Ahmedabad: On Monday, the city’s maximum temperature touched 40.4°C, which was 2.2 degrees above normal. It remained in the same range as Sunday as the city saw nearly two months of 40 degrees and above readings since April 1. At 29°C, the minimum temperature was also 1.6 degrees higher than normal.Relative humidity (RH) levels recorded at 8.30am and 5.30pm stood at 59% and 33%, respectively.The synoptic situation pointed to an upper air cyclonic circulation over southeast Pakistan and adjoining southwest Rajasthan, while a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to impact northwest India from June 18 onwards. The current northern limit of the monsoon passes through Harnai and Solapur in Maharashtra, among other places, with the southwest monsoon remaining stalled over the past few days.The state forecast indicated no major change in maximum temperatures over the next seven days. Some parts of South Gujarat may receive light to moderate rainfall later this week.Bhavnagar recorded the highest maximum temperature at 40.9 degrees, followed by Ahmedabad at 40.4 degrees and VV Nagar at 40.3 degrees, among others.
