Varanasi: In a significant step towards promoting sustainable mobility and enhancing public transportation facilities for students, faculty members, employees, and residents, a new bus service connecting Banaras Hindu University with Varanasi Cantt Railway Station has been started on the campus.As part of the initiative, 8 electric buses will operate on the route. The service comes as a result of the BHU’s social outreach efforts aimed at benefiting the society at large. The initiative, realized in collaboration with Varanasi City Transport Services Limited (VCTSL), seeks to provide an eco-friendly, affordable, and convenient mode of transportation while supporting green energy initiatives and addressing the long-standing demand for improved connectivity.The fare has been fixed at Rs 10 for travel within the university campus, while passengers travelling between BHU and Varanasi Cantt Railway Station will be charged Rs 20–25, depending upon the route and distance covered.
