Minor ends life in Warangal; sexual exploitation case registered

Shiva Kumar PinnaWarangal: A minor girl died by suicide in Warangal City on Sunday night, allegedly following prolonged sexual exploitation by a 31-year-old man.According to Matwada inspector N Karunakar, the accused is married and has a four-year-old son. He reportedly befriended the minor and subjected her to repeated sexual abuse.Police said that on June 13, which was also her birthday, the girl visited a temple and later met the accused. The two reportedly went to a lodge in Kazipet, where the girl asked him to marry her. However, the accused refused, citing caste differences.On the same evening, the girl took ill, which was noticed by her sister. When questioned, the girl disclosed the alleged sexual assault by the accused. She also told her sister that when she threatened to take her life after he refused to marry her, the accused allegedly told her to “do as you wish.”Distressed, on Sunday night, the minor resorted to the extreme step. Her parents discovered her body and alerted neighbours, who in turn informed the police.Police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to MGM Hospital for post-mortem examination.Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s parents on Monday, a case has been registered against the accused under Sections 64(2)(m) and 108 of the BNS, Section 6 of the POCSO Act, and Section 3(2)(V) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.Further investigation is underway.
