LUCKNOW: Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) will soon get a 350-bed level-1 trauma centre near its Shahid Path campus, making it the second such facility in the state after KGMU, institute director Prof CM Singh said on Sunday.Addressing the institute’s 3rd convocation ceremony, Prof Singh said the state government has allotted around 16,000 square metres of land for the project and work will begin shortly. He also announced that a 1,010-bed super-speciality hospital will be developed at the institute to expand advanced healthcare services.Prof Singh said liver transplant and bone marrow transplant services are expected to start this year as infrastructure work has been completed. He added that nearly 400 robotic surgeries have already been performed at the institute within less than a year.He said UP’s first Gamma Knife facility will also soon be installed at RMLIMS for advanced neurosurgical treatment.Highlighting patient care, Prof Singh said the institute treated over nine lakh OPD patients and admitted more than 78,000 patients in the past year. Same-day MRI, CT scan and other diagnostic services are now being provided to reduce waiting time for patients, he added.
