Ahmedabad: A 48-year-old retired army man residing in Gandhinagar was duped of Rs 29.5 lakh in a cyberfraud case after being lured into a bogus stock-trading scheme operated through a mobile application, police said on Sunday.According to the complaint lodged with the cybercrime police of the Gandhinagar range, the victim received a WhatsApp audio call on Nov 25, 2025, from an unknown number. The caller claimed to be a senior adviser of a reputed stockbroking firm and offered guidance on high-return investments. The victim was then added to a WhatsApp group named “F64 R.B.K Market Parivar”, where trading tips and stock analysis messages were regularly shared to build credibility. Initially hesitant, the victim later filled out an online form shared by the accused, providing personal details such as PAN and Aadhaar information. He was subsequently asked to download a mobile application named “RBK-PMSDelynor” from the app store using an invite code. Believing the scheme to be genuine, the victim began transferring funds from his and his wife’s accounts to multiple bank accounts provided by the fraudsters between Dec 2025 and Jan 2026. The app displayed inflated profits of over Rs 4 crore, further convincing him to invest larger amounts. However, when he attempted to withdraw the funds, he was asked to pay an additional Rs 25 lakh as processing charges. Realizing that he had been defrauded, he contacted the cybercrime helpline 1930 and registered a complaint. Police said the accused used fake identities and manipulated the application interface to show fictitious gains. A case of cheating and impersonation was registered against unknown persons, including the mobile number holders and bank account beneficiaries.
