Jamnagar bizman alleges death threats, bid to abduct children over social media post

Rajkot: A 44-year-old businessman from Kalawad town in Jamnagar district has filed a police complaint alleging that he received serious threats, including a threat to abduct his children, following his post on social media. Kalawad police have registered an FIR against the accused, identified as Alpesh Dobariya.According to the complaint lodged by Parshottam Hirpara, the incident took place on June 12 after he shared a news clipping on his WhatsApp and Facebook. The clip reported a court verdict sentencing four individuals to three years in prison for assaulting a couple.Police said that shortly after posting the video, Hirpara received a WhatsApp call from Dobariya, who allegedly demanded that he immediately remove the Facebook story. When Hirpara refused, Dobariya allegedly abused him and issued threats, including a warning that he would abduct Hirpara’s children, claiming that he knew the school where they studied.The accused also allegedly challenged Hirpara to approach the police and threatened him with serious consequences if he filed a complaint. The threatening calls and intimidation reportedly continued until the evening.Fearing for his and his family’s safety, Hirpara approached the Kalawad police station and lodged a complaint.Based on his statement, police registered an FIR against Dobariya under Sections 351(4) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation and intentional insult involving abusive language. Further investigation into the case was underway.
