Man held for attempted ATM theft, accomplice on the run

Chennai: A 23-year-old man was arrested on charges of attempting to break into an ATM in Koyambedu. Although no money was taken, officers registered a case and later detained one of the two suspects. Search is on for the other.The probe began after Vignesh, 32, the branch manager of a Punjab National Bank office on Razaak Garden Road in Arumbakkam, filed a complaint with the CMBT police station on Friday. According to his complaint, two unidentified men entered the bank’s ATM kiosk on Jawaharlal Nehru Road on Thursday night and tried to force open the cash cassette inside the machine before fleeing.Vijay, 23, a resident of Pattabiram in Avadi, was arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
