New Delhi: Six minors have been apprehended for allegedly stabbing to death a 19-year-old youth in outer Delhi’s Samaypur Badli, police said on Sunday. The deceased, Rajeev, was a tempo driver.Information about the stabbing of a local resident came to Samaypur Badli police station on April 14 around 7.44 pm. Rajeev, rushed to Max Hospital in Shalimar Bagh with a stab wound in his stomach, succumbed to injuries during treatment.A police inquiry revealed that the reason behind the attack was a spat that one of the minors had with Rajeev on April 13. Other boys were also involved in the spat. The next day, the group of boys returned to his street around 7.30 pm and confronted him, before allegedly stabbing him with a knife.A case has been registered under Sections 103 (murder) and 3 (5) (common intention) at Samaypur Badli police station.“CCTV footage from nearby areas was analysed and manual efforts were made, leading to the identification and apprehension of six juveniles,” said DCP (outer north) Hareshwar Swami. The accused are aged between 14 years and 16 years. One of them, a 15-year-old, allegedly inflicted the fatal wound. An investigation revealed that he harboured a grudge after he and his grandmother got into a spat with Rajeev and his father on April 13, police said. The minor told cops that Rajeev allegedly made derogatory remarks and gestures towards the minor’s grandmother, which made him want to attack the youth.A police officer said the spat stemmed from a neighbourhood dispute over standing in the lane. The two sides are also distant relatives. “It was an argument that escalated, but it was not reported to police at that time,” the officer said. The altercation took a violent turn the next day.
