Fire services to launch virtual fire safety training module

Panaji: The directorate of fire and emergency services has outlined a proposal to create an online fire safety training module, which will be used to train fire personnel, volunteers and external agencies. The department expects to spend around Rs 12 lakh for the creation of a virtual training platform to improve capacity-building across the department. The online portal will include digital training records, attendance tracking, scheduling tools, analytical dashboards and nine core fire safety curricula covering topics such as fire classification, evacuation protocols, electrical and kitchen safety, road accident response and disaster preparedness. The platform will also feature online assessments and automated digital certificate generation.According to the tender signed by director Nitin Raiker, the platform will cover the full organisational hierarchy of the directorate, from divisional level down to individual fire stations and units. The module will host nine core fire safety curricula, covering fire classification and extinguisher types, evacuation protocols, electrical and kitchen safety, road accident response, disaster preparedness and citizen engagement frameworks, among others. Training content will be delivered through a centralised digital repository, replacing the need for voice-over video in favour of structured documentation and online assessment. On the administrative side, the platform will include scheduling tools with digital attendance recording, automated certification upon course completion, and real-time dashboards tracking training status across the department.
