Hyderabad reels under rain havoc as flooded roads trigger traffic chaos across the city. Motorists wade through heavy rainlogged water in the city at Banjara Hills on Friday.

Hyderabad: The city witnessed another spell of intense monsoon showers on Friday, with rainfall comparable to the heavy downpour recorded on June 9, when the southwest monsoon entered the city. Several areas received over 40 mm of rainfall within a few hours, leading to waterlogging, traffic snarls, and disruption for evening commuters.According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TDPS), Mailardevpally in Rajendranagar recorded the highest rainfall at 45.3 mm, followed by Golkonda (44.8 mm), Shastripuram near Ekta Colony (42.5 mm), Rajendranagar ARS (42.3 mm), and Kishanbagh Govt High School (40.5 mm). Sivarampally also recorded 38.5 mm, while Chandulal Baradari Sports Complex received 36.5 mm of rainfall. The heavy showers inundated several roads across Hyderabad. Waterlogging was reported at the SR Nagar–Balkampet Road Underbridge (RUB), near Mehdipatnam Function Hall, on the stretch from NFCL towards the Panjagutta Flyover, and opposite Praja Bhavan, slowing vehicular movement during peak hours.Water accumulation was also reported on the stretch from Masab Tank Junction towards Mahaveer, near the end point of the Masab Tank Flyover, leading to traffic congestion. An uprooted tree near Vengalrao Park further disrupted traffic from GVK towards NFCL.Traffic police, along with HYDRAA officials and Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams, were deployed at affected locations to regulate traffic, clear obstructions, and assist commuters as the thunderstorms lashed different parts of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places over several Telangana districts for the next three days. In the city, over the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky with light rain or thundershowers and gusty winds is likely in the afternoon or evening, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to hover around 38°C and 28°C, respectively.
