Panaji: Barely days after the beach shack season ended, the tourism department has swiftly initiated the registration and renewal process for temporary shacks, beach huts, and cottages for the 2026-27 tourist season.Tourism minister Rohan Khaunte had assured shack operators that the renewal and demarcation process would be completed by Aug 15.Last year, the department allotted 263 shacks in North Goa and 98 in South Goa. Operators of these shacks are eligible to renew their licences for the upcoming season.Applications for new registrations and renewals are being accepted at the tourism department office in Patto and the South zone office at the Mathany Saldanha Complex on all working days until 5pm. The deadline for submitting renewal applications is July 15, tourism director Kedar Naik said. Application forms are available on the department’s official website.Applicants seeking renewal must submit property ownership or lease documents, a site plan, a no objection certificate (NOC) from the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, where applicable, an affidavit for registration, and a valid NOC from the directorate of fire and emergency services. Fees can be paid by cash, debit card, UPI, or demand draft.Separately, the department has also opened registrations for aero sports operators, tandem pilots, and solo pilots for 2026-27 under the newly notified Goa Aero Sports Rules, 2025. Applications will be accepted until July 10 at the same facilitation centres.Registration fees have been fixed at Rs 1 lakh per aircraft for operators, Rs 10,000 per tandem pilot, and Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,000 for foreign and Indian solo pilots, respectively.Tandem pilot registration is meant for certified paragliding and paramotoring operators authorised to take tourists and adventure enthusiasts on flights. Solo pilot registration is for individuals flying independently with their own equipment under valid certification.
