Shimla: National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) chairman Antar Singh Arya on Wednesday directed the Himachal Pradesh govt to expedite the disposal of cases under the Forest Rights Act (FRA) in tribal areas to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive their rightful entitlements without delay.Arya, along with commission members Nirupam Chakma and Asha Lakra, reviewed issues concerning tribal development during a meeting with senior state govt officials in Shimla as part of the commission’s two-day visit.Following a detailed assessment of departmental initiatives, Arya issued directions to further strengthen public services and infrastructure in tribal areas. He also noted with satisfaction that no cases of Sickle Cell Anemia have been reported from Himachal Pradesh’s tribal regions, unlike in several other states.The NCST chairman said that despite challenging geographical conditions, Himachal Pradesh has made commendable progress in tribal development.
