Noida: Days after a blaze gutted a flat in Sector 75, fire broke out at two more apartments in the city, one of them due to a spark in an air-conditioning unit, on Tuesday. A car also burst into flames near Sector 16 metro station following a short circuit in the afternoon. Police said there were no injuries in any of the incidents.The first incident was reported around 11 am at Exotica Dreamville Society in the Bisrakh area, where a fire broke out in a flat on the 13th floor. Firefighters from the Gaur City station rushed to the spot but found the blaze had already doused. Preliminary probe indicates the fire started in a temple inside the flat, possibly from a burning lamp.Later in the afternoon, a fire broke out in an air-conditioning unit on the second floor of a house in B-Block, Sector 31, around 3.30 pm. Residents noticed flames and smoke from the unit and cut the power supply before alerting the fire department. Two tenders were deployed and brought the fire under control quickly. Initial investigations pointed to a short circuit in the AC unit.Around 4.30 pm, a Sonata with a Ghaziabad registration caught fire near the Sector 16 metro station while travelling on the road linking Sector 18 and Naya Bans. Chief fire officer Pradeep Kumar Chaubey said a short circuit in the vehicle may have caused the blaze. The car was completely damaged, but the driver managed to exit on time. It was immediately not clear if there were other passengers, but police said no one was injured in the incident.The incidents follow a fire on Friday morning at Ivy County, a condominium in Sector 75, where a blaze on the 12th floor of a 28-storey tower sent thick smoke billowing across the complex and forced the evacuation of more than 200 residents.The Ivy County blaze came close on the heels of a fire at a bed-and-breakfast accommodation in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar on June 3, which killed 21 people, and has intensified calls for stricter enforcement of fire safety norms in residential and commercial buildings across the region.
