Fraudster held for duping people with paramilitary job promises

Varanasi: Rani Ki Sarai police in Azamgarh district on Monday arrested a member of a gang allegedly involved in cheating people by promising jobs in paramilitary forces through forged documents. The accused was nabbed in Mau district.According to police, Pankaj Yadav, a resident of Andhauri village under Rani Ki Sarai police station area, lodged a complaint on May 20 alleging that a group of people defrauded people through fake documents by assuring them of jobs in paramilitary forces. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant BNS sections, including Sections 3(5), 319(2), 318(4), 336(4), 340(2), 61(2), 351(3), 352 and 338.During investigation, names of several accused surfaced. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Munna Sharma, a resident of Piprakala village under Khajuri police station in Ballia district, near the Mohammadabad railway crossing in Mau district.Police said Sharma was also wanted in another case registered at Paltan Bazar police station in Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district under Sections 120(B), 468, 471, 472 and 34 of IPC.CO (City) Shubham Todi said police are continuing efforts to identify and arrest other members of the gang involved in the racket.
