Lifesavers stave off suicide bid at Calangute

Panaji: Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued a 22-year-old man at Calangute beach after spotting him wading into deep waters.The Margao resident was seen deliberately moving farther from the shore, prompting lifeguards Suraj Sawant and Vinod Lamani to reach him with a rescue tube. While bringing him back safely, the man reportedly expressed suicidal intentions. In another incident, lifeguards assisted a 16-year-old girl from Mumbai who suffered an epileptic episode at Betalbatim beach. . She was advised to seek medical attention and was reported stable.A 24-year-old tourist from Jalna, Maharashtra, was also rescued after being caught in a rip current near the shoreline. Lifesavers Ankur Chaudhary and Sujan Nagvekar brought him safely back to shore using a rescue tube and rescue board.
