Tripura initiates investigation into big investments  in state after Shah’s advice

Agartala: The Tripura administration has began an investigation into the substantial investments made in the state over the past five years in response to Union home minister Amit Shah’s instructions during his recent visit.Highly placed sources in the state administration said Shah emphasized the need for heightened scrutiny of financial transactions near the borders, as well as oversight of construction projects and property trade in the region.The directive was issued at a meeting regarding border-related issues in Tripura, which took place at the BSF Tripura Frontier headquarters in Salbagan, here on Friday.“Shah ordered a review of land records from the last five years to assess the situation and to determine if these investments are connected to foreign entities or illegal funding sources,” an officer said.Sources also mentioned that Shah called for regular operations against drug and arms, trafficking, emphasizing the need to adopt a strong approach towards those involved in the drug trade.Shah pointed out that maintaining financial discipline in border districts is also a duty of the states. He instructed that training be provided for collectors and GST officials, and requested the Central Board of Direct Taxes to perform a survey on counterfeit currency,” he said.“The Union home minister further directed that camps be established to educate residents near the border on how to combat narcotics and arms threats, and he insisted that police and BSF personnel be present at these camps,” sources said.The meeting highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the govt is firmly dedicated to upholding high security standards along international borders while fostering collaboration between central and state agencies for the comprehensive development and safety of border regions.
