UP horror: Man kills brother with LPG cylinder after family dispute

LUCKNOW: A 24-year-old man allegedly killed his younger brother by attacking him with a domestic LPG cylinder in Lucknow’s Jankipuram Extension area on Sunday afternoon, after the victim objected to his repeated assaults on their parents, police said.The accused allegedly dragged the severely injured victim onto the road and openly claimed he had killed him, daring anyone to take action. The incident took place around 3 pm in Sector-3 of Jankipuram Extension and shocked the local area. The deceased has been identified as Aryan Mishra (21), who worked at a seed store and was involved in supplying agricultural medicines. Police have detained the accused, Abhishek Mishra (24), and launched an investigation.

Family dispute turns violent

According to family members, the incident was the result of a long-standing pattern of aggressive behaviour by the accused, who was allegedly addicted to intoxicants and frequently assaulted family members.Aryan’s father, Ramanand Mishra, a painting contractor, said his elder son Abhishek was unemployed and often created disturbances at home after consuming intoxicants.“On Sunday morning, Abhishek first assaulted me. We somehow managed to escape and went to the rooftop to save ourselves. Later, my wife and I left for Yahiyaganj to purchase materials for work,” Ramanand said.He alleged that after they left, Abhishek began assaulting his mother, Manju Mishra, kicking and beating her on the road. Neighbours intervened and tried to calm the situation.

Brother intervened

Aryan reportedly intervened to protect his mother, which led to a heated argument between the two brothers. What began as a family dispute soon escalated into a violent confrontation.Neighbours said the brothers fought on the street, after which locals intervened and separated them. Abhishek was sent back into the house, while Aryan was taken to a nearby residence.

Attack inside the house

Residents said the situation appeared to have settled, but Aryan later returned to the house via the rooftop and again came face to face with his brother.A fresh altercation broke out inside the home. According to eyewitnesses and preliminary police findings, Abhishek allegedly picked up a domestic LPG cylinder and repeatedly hit Aryan on the head.The attack caused severe head injuries, and Aryan collapsed in a pool of blood.

‘I have killed him, do whatever you want’

Neighbours said the accused acted in a highly aggressive state even after the assault.“Abhishek seemed consumed by rage. Even after Aryan collapsed, he did not stop. He dragged him by the leg and pulled him out onto the road,” said neighbour Shiv Pujan Mishra.Witnesses also said the accused later shouted: “I have killed him. Whoever wants to do anything can do it.”

Victim dies at trauma centre

Aryan was rushed to the Trauma Centre by his uncle Parmanand Mishra and local residents, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.Police said he had suffered severe head injuries consistent with a blunt-force attack.

Investigation underway

Police have taken Abhishek Mishra into custody and are questioning him. A case has been registered, and further investigation is in progress. Forensic teams have collected samples from the spot, and witness statements are being recorded.Residents described Aryan as a polite and hardworking young man, expressing shock over the incident.
