Gurgaon: An NSG commando died after suffering a gunshot wound during a training exercise at the force’s Manesar campus on Friday, sources said.The constable-rank commando was identified as Rahul Singh Jaggi (32), a resident of Roorkee in Uttarakhand. According to a source, Jaggi was undergoing a training session on combat firing, during which he sustained the injury. “The family members of the deceased have been informed in keeping with the procedures. Police were also informed and are conducting their investigation,” the source said.Jaggi, sources said, was rushed for medical help soon after the incident, but could not be revived. Police suspect the injury may have been accidental. “Details of the incident are being examined. The body has been shifted to the mortuary and the family was informed,” a police officer said.An autopsy was ordered, but its report is awaited. An internal inquiry is also expected to be conducted to establish how the injury occurred and whether safety protocols were followed.Repeated calls to the DCP, ACP and station house officer of Manesar did not elicit a response. The NSG, headquartered in Manesar, had not issued an official statement at the time of filing this report, and attempts to reach senior officials for confirmation and details were unsuccessful.
