Mumbai: A teen who had ventured out to Juhu beach with a group of friends on Friday drowned. Police said Sarfaraz Khan, 16, did not know how to swim but continued venturing deeper into the water, despite his friends’ warnings.Sarfaraz lived in Andheri East. On Friday, he ventured to Juhu beach for an outing with his friends, Mohammad Kaif Khan, Takalluf Khan and Jawabul Khan.Around 4.30 pm, the group ventured into the water and started to play. None of the boys knew swimming.Police said Sarfaraz ventured deeper into the water despite his friends’ warnings to not do so. He was pulled in by the tide.His friends tried to save him but were fearful of going deeper inside. They informed lifeguards and the police who tried to look for Sarfaraz in the water, but in vain.Later, lifeguards went inside the second time and found Sarfaraz. He was taken to the Cooper Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.Police informed his cousin, Farman Ali. A case of accidental death was recorded by Santacruz Police.Police said Sarfaraz hailed from Uttar Pradesh.
